Hot melt adhesive refers to a kind of adhesive which is solid at low temperature, heated and melted into liquid, coated and wetted on the surface of the adherend, and then pressed and cooled, and can be solidified or chemically reacted to achieve bonding. It is a multi-component mixture with thermoplastic resin or elastomer as the main material, which is applied to the substrate surface in the form of melt for bonding. In most cases, hot-melt adhesive is a kind of adhesive with a solid mass fraction of 100% without water or solvent.
Hot melt adhesive is a new type of adhesive developed and applied rapidly in the world in recent years. Because its products are solid, convenient for packaging, transportation and storage, solvent-free and pollution-free, and its production process is simple, high added value, high adhesive strength and fast, etc., it is popular. The research of hot-melt adhesives began in the mid-1970s in China. At present, the main varieties of EVA, polyamide, polyester, SBS, SIS and polyurethane can be produced in China, some of them have a certain scale. In recent years, the domestic hot melt adhesive industry began to enter a period of rapid development. The production of hot-melt adhesive is growing at a rate of about 25% every year, and its application scope is also expanding. It has expanded from traditional sanitary products, packaging, book binding and other fields to clothing, tape, shoemaking and even refrigerator, cable, automobile and other industries.
